Installing Eyespeak

If your computer requires you to log on before use, you will need to log on as Administrator or somebody with administrator rights before you can install.

Insert the CD into the drive. The setup program should start automatically. If it does not, open up “My Computer” double click on the CD ROM drive, (usually the D Drive) and double click on “setup.exe”. This will start the installation. The installation program is called “InstallShield” and is a professional and widely used installation program.

Installation will proceed as follows:

  1. You will be welcomed to the EyeSpeak Installshield wizard. Click Next to continue.
  2. The EyeSpeak license agreement will appear. Accept the license agreement and click Next to continue.
  3. Eyespeak will now be ready to install. Click Install to begin the installation.
  4. If your computer does not already have DirectX 9.0 installed it will install it next. Accept the license agreement for the DirectX 9.0 and wait for it to install.
  5. EyeSpeak itself will now be installed.
Registering

You will need to register EyeSpeak before you can use it. Registration will occur the first time EyeSpeak is run. Run EyeSpeak by clicking the icon of the desktop or going start menu->(All) Programs->EyeSpeak->EyeSpeak. Registration will proceed as follows:

  1. You will be welcomed to EyeSpeak and asked to enter the CD code which came with your disk. Put the first five digits in the box on the left and the rest of the code in the box on the right. Cick Next to continue
  2. You will be asked to enter your full name. Please do so. Click Next to continue
  3. You will be asked whether you wish to register EyeSpeak over the internet or by telephone. If you register over the internet your computer must be connected to the internet. Cick Next to continue
  4. If you choose to register over the internet you will asked to enter your email address. It is very important that you enter a valid email address. Your activation code will be emailed to this address and you cannot use EyeSpeak without it. Click Next to send your data to EyeSpeak's online registration system. A browser should appear confirming your registration. If your registration is not confirmed, contact your local distributor or technical support. Once your registration is confirmed, check your email to receive your activation code.
    If you choose to register over the telephone the next screen will display your CD key and your special computer key. Ring up your local distributor or technical support. You will supply them with these numbers and be given your activation code over the phone. Click Next to continue.
  5. You will be asked to enter your activation code into a text box. When you have done this click Finish. If you entered the correct code, EyeSpeak will start up. Otherwise you will need to register again.
